About this trip
Eight days across Yunnan, moving from Kunming through Dali and Lijiang up to Shangri-La, tracing a route that shifts from limestone karst scenery to lake towns to Tibetan highlands.
The trip is built around walking through old towns and villages rather than ticking off sights from a coach window. You will pass through communities of Yi, Bai, Naxi and Tibetan people, and the pace lets the cultural mix of the region actually register.
Along the way there is proper landscape too, from the Stone Forest and Erhai Lake to Tiger Leaping Gorge and the wetlands at Napahai.
What you'll do
- Wander the limestone pillars of the Stone Forest
