About this trip
Ten days tracing the old Silk Road across northwest China, from Xian all the way to Kashgar near the western border. You move through a string of cities and desert towns that once linked China to Central Asia, each with its own layer of history.
A local guide leads you through the sites in each place, filling in the history behind what you're seeing, from ancient garrison towns to oasis settlements. Alongside the history, expect dramatic desert and mountain landscapes as you travel between stops.
This is a partially guided group trip, so there's a mix of led exploration and time to take things at your own pace.
