About this trip
Ten days across China, moving from Shanghai's skyline to Hong Kong's harbour, with some of the country's most striking landscapes in between. You'll cover a lot of ground by flight, high-speed train and private transfer, so this suits someone who wants variety over lingering in one place.
The middle stretch is the heart of it: the sandstone pillars of Zhangjiajie that inspired Avatar, a lantern-lit evening in the old river town of Fenghuang, and the terraced hillsides of Longji. From there you drift by local boat through the limestone peaks around Yangshuo before the trip closes out in Hong Kong.
What you'll do
- See the Avatar Hallelujah Mountain formations in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
- Walk the glass pavement skywalk
- Spend a lantern-lit evening by the Tuo River in Fenghuang
- Hike the Longji Rice Terraces
- Take a local boat through the karst peaks near Yangshuo
- Finish among the skyscrapers and harbour of Hong Kong
- Fast-moving itinerary — you change base most days using a mix of flights, high-speed trains and private transfers
- Partially guided, so some sections you'll navigate with more independence than others
