About this trip
Twelve days moving through southern Xinjiang, a region with a long history and a distinct Uyghur culture, from the Pamir Plateau down to the edge of the Taklimakan Desert.
You travel with a local guide across a wide route — Kashgar, Tashkurgan, Hetian, Kuqa, Turpan and Urumqi — taking in desert landscapes, snow-capped mountains and old Silk Road towns along the way.
It's built around depth rather than speed, giving you time to actually take in the culture and terrain rather than just passing through.
