About this trip
A 23-day loop from Shanghai back to Shanghai, taking in a huge cross-section of China: karst scenery around Yangshuo, pandas in Chengdu, ancient Xi'an, the Shaolin temple, the Great Wall and Beijing's imperial sites, ending in Hangzhou and Shanghai.
The pace mixes gentle activity with cultural immersion — cycling and kayaking in Yangshuo, a Kung Fu lesson at Shaolin, a night camping on the Great Wall, plus Mandarin basics and local food along the way.
It's a long, ground-covering journey rather than a slow settle-in-one-place trip, built for those who want to see China's major highlights in one go.
