About this trip
Three days in Samburu National Reserve, northern Kenya's quieter alternative to the more crowded southern parks. Expect dry savannah, acacia trees and the Ewaso Nyiro River running through it all.
This is the place to spot the so-called Samburu Five — species you won't see further south, like Grevy's zebra and the reticulated giraffe — alongside the big cats and the usual safari cast.
A short, focused safari rather than a big loop around the country, good if you want wildlife and open landscapes without a long itinerary.
What you'll do
- Game drives through Samburu National Reserve
- Track the Samburu Five: Beisa oryx, Grevy's zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and reticulated giraffe
- Watch the Ewaso Nyiro River area for big cats and other predators
- Sundowners over the savannah
- A short 3-day trip, best combined with other parks if you want a longer Kenya safari
- Samburu is more remote and less visited than southern reserves, so wildlife sightings feel less crowded
