About this trip
Nine days across Rome, Naples and Capri, linked by train, taking in the ancient sites of the capital before heading south to the bay of Naples and out to Capri.
In Rome you'll take in the Colosseum, the Vatican and the city's piazzas and food, then move on to Naples for its history and street life, with day trips to Pompeii, Vesuvius and a boat over to Capri.
Each day is guided, but by a different guide and group, so you'll be joining new people for each tour rather than travelling with the same crew throughout.
What you'll do
- See the Colosseum and wander the Vatican in Rome
- Explore the ruins of Pompeii
- Climb Mount Vesuvius
- Cruise across to the island of Capri
- Travel between Rome, Naples and Capri by train
- Partially guided — you get a different guide and group each day rather than one fixed tour leader throughout
- Easy pace, built around train travel between bases
- Suits travellers who want to see Italy's big sights without organising the logistics themselves
