About this trip
An eight-day family route across Morocco, starting in Marrakech and finishing in the old port town of Essaouira, taking in desert, mountains and coast along the way.
Expect a mix of city exploring, historical sites and a proper camel trek, with plenty of variety for both adults and kids.
The pace covers a lot of ground, from spice-market alleys to Roman ruins and the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, so there's a real sense of Morocco's range packed into just over a week.
What you'll do
- Explore Marrakech's medina and spice-scented back alleys
- Camel trek along the Atlantic Ocean coastline
- Stay overnight in a homestay in the High Atlas Mountains
- Visit Roman ruins en route
- Wander the old pirate port of Essaouira
- If you'd rather not ride, you can walk alongside the camels instead, about an hour each way
- The walk to the High Atlas homestay can be tough in places — ask your leader about travelling by mule if needed
- Some long travel days covering a lot of ground, including a winding mountain road that may not suit those prone to motion sickness
