About this trip

Four days from Marrakech into the Sahara, done as a private trip so it's just you (and whoever you're travelling with) and your guide, moving at your own pace across some of Morocco's most varied landscapes.

You cross the Atlas Mountains, pass through old kasbahs, and drop into gorges and valleys before the road finally gives way to the dunes around Merzouga. A sunset camel trek carries you into the desert camp, where you sleep out under the stars.

It's a good option if you want the classic Marrakech-to-Sahara route without joining a group, and with enough flexibility to stop where the landscape asks you to.

What you'll do

  • Cross the Atlas Mountains by private vehicle
  • Stop at historic kasbahs along the way
  • Walk or view dramatic gorges and valleys en route
  • Camel trek into the Sahara dunes at sunset
  • Overnight in a desert camp under the stars near Merzouga
Good to know
  • Private tour, so pace and stops can flex to suit you
  • Involves a fair amount of driving to cover Atlas Mountains to Merzouga in four days
  • One night is spent camping in the desert, so basic rather than hotel-level comfort that night
