About this trip
This one runs the length of Italy then keeps going, from Rome down to the Amalfi Coast, up through Tuscany to Venice, and on into Slovenia and Croatia as far as Dubrovnik. It's a lot of ground — twelve days, seven countries' worth of history and coastline — so expect a moving itinerary rather than a settled base.
The first half, Rome to Venice, travels by coach in a larger group. From Venice onward the tour switches to a small group of 3 to 12 guests, which changes the feel from a shared city-tour pace to something more personal as you cross into Slovenia and down through Croatia.
Along the way you get proper set-piece days — the Colosseum with Arena Floor access, a full day covering Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast and Positano, and later Plitvice Lakes and Dubrovnik's Old Town — alongside slower stretches for wandering Florence, Venice or Split at your own pace.
What you'll do
- Guided Colosseum tour with Arena Floor, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill access
- Full-day excursion to Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast and Positano
- Wander Florence's piazzas and Renaissance sights, with a stop in Siena and Assisi en route
- St Mark's Square, the Doge's Palace and a local cicchetti experience in Venice
- Lake Bled and Ljubljana in Slovenia
- Plitvice Lakes National Park and Diocletian's Palace in Split, finishing with an Old Town tour in Dubrovnik
- Rome to Venice is by large coach; Venice to Dubrovnik switches to a small group of 3-12 guests, with new travellers joining or leaving along the way
- This covers a lot of countries and cities in 12 days, so it suits people happy with a moving base rather than settling in one place
- An optional day trip to Murano and Burano is offered in Venice, or you can use the time at your own pace
