About this trip
This trip takes you into a remote Albanian valley where trekking days are spent on quiet trails between villages that see little outside tourism, staying in small family-run homestays along the way. It pairs that with the cultural highlights of southern Albania, from Ottoman stone bridges to the mansions and frescoes of the country's historic stone towns.
It suits both first-time visitors curious about Albania and returning travellers who have already done the Albanian Alps and want a different landscape and a quieter trail. Homestay hosts feed you well and the pace leaves room to actually meet the people you are staying with.
The route was developed with the Italian NGO CESVI, who helped train local guides and homestay families specifically for this trek. You start from Tirana or Saranda/Corfu, and it can be extended or combined with the Coastal Mountain Trek for a longer trip.
