About this trip
Ten days that piece together Nepal's greatest hits without committing to one type of trip: temples in Kathmandu, a rafting run on the Trisuli, an easy trek near Pokhara, and wildlife spotting in Chitwan.
You start in Kathmandu with time at its major UNESCO sites, then head overland toward Pokhara with a stop for whitewater rafting on the way. From the lakeside city you walk up to Australian Camp for mountain views, before finishing with a couple of days in Chitwan National Park.
It suits you if you want a broad, sample-everything introduction to Nepal — culture, a bit of adrenaline, some walking, and jungle wildlife — rather than a deep dive into any one of them.
What you'll do
- Visit Pashupatinath Temple, Swoyambunath, Boudhanath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square
- Raft the Trisuli River for around 2.3 hours en route to Pokhara
- Explore Sarangkot's sights including Bindawasini Temple, Davi's Fall and Gupteswar Cave
- Trek two days to Australian Camp with views of Machapuchare, Annapurna and other peaks
- Look for rhinos, deer and wild boar on an elephant-back ride in Chitwan National Park
- Watch a traditional Tharu dance performance
- Easy-graded trip — the trekking section is short and gentle rather than a serious mountain challenge
- Partially guided, so some sections you'll cover with more independence than others
- Fast-moving itinerary covering four very different regions in ten days
Cheapest live departure per day, in £, recorded by our tracker since 16 Jul. Never a brochure “was” price.
Worth it if you want genuine local hospitality and diverse activities. Think twice if rough road conditions bother you.
- Guides treat you like family and go above and beyond; Debarkar specifically mentioned as exceptional.
- Solid itinerary hits UNESCO sites, jungle wildlife, river rafting, and trekking in ten days.
- Nepalese roads are rough dirt tracks, genuinely uncomfortable for sensitive travellers.
- Trip packs in city sightseeing, Chitwan jungle, Trishuli rafting, and Australian camp trekking back-to-back.
