Everest Base Camp Trek

Start & end in Kathmandu 12 days Up to 10

About this trip

This trek takes you into the Khumbu region of Nepal, following the trail toward Everest Base Camp through Sherpa villages and high mountain valleys.

The route gives you close-up views of some of the world's highest peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam, as the trail climbs steadily through changing landscapes.

It's a demanding but achievable trek for those with a reasonable level of fitness, done partially guided and in a small group.

What you'll do

  • Trek through Sherpa villages in the Khumbu region
  • Reach Everest Base Camp itself
  • See Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and other Himalayan peaks along the trail
  • Watch for wildlife such as musk deer, mountain thar and pheasants
Good to know
  • A high-altitude trek, so a good level of fitness and some acclimatisation days are involved
  • Partially guided, so you'll cover some ground independently as a group
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want guides who genuinely care and handle logistics seamlessly. Think twice if you need dietary variety or pristine facilities.

  • Guides remember individual preferences (breakfast drinks) and stick with slowest trekkers like family.
  • Tea house facilities basic: limited non-egg breakfasts, two toilets for 24 people, cleanliness inconsistent.
  • Crampons listed as optional but genuinely needed; pre-trek advice on gear needs could be sharper.
  • Company handles emergencies exceptionally well, including altitude sickness evacuations and contingency support.
