About this trip
Eight days across Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara, covering Nepal's temples, wildlife and lakeside scenery in one go. It suits anyone who wants a broad first look at the country rather than deep time in any one place.
Kathmandu opens the trip with its UNESCO sites — from the cremation ghats at Pashupatinath to the hilltop stupa at Swoyambunath. From there you head to Chitwan National Park for wildlife and Tharu culture, then on to Pokhara for lake views and short excursions around Sarangkot.
It's a well-rounded introduction to Nepal's culture and nature side by side, moving at a fair pace given the ground covered in just over a week.
What you'll do
- Visit Pashupatinath, Swoyambunath, Boudhanath and Kathmandu Durbar Square
- Take the cable car up to Manakamana Temple
- Ride an elephant through Chitwan National Park and look for rhinoceros, deer and wild boar
- Watch a traditional Tharu dance performance
- Explore Sarangkot, Bindawasini Temple, David's Fall and Gupteswar Cave in Pokhara
- Covers three regions in 8 days, so travel between them takes up part of the itinerary
- Wildlife sightings in Chitwan, including tigers, are possible but not guaranteed
- Suited to those wanting a broad cultural and nature overview rather than an in-depth stay in one place
