Inca Trail 2 Days to Machu Picchu with Hotel

Start & end in Cusco 2 days Up to 12

About this trip

A condensed version of the Inca Trail, covering the final stretch on foot before you reach Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate. It's the classic approach without the full four-day commitment.

You hike past the Winawayna ruins and climb up to Intipunku, the Sun Gate, for your first look down over Machu Picchu. That evening you stay in a hotel in Machu Picchu town, then head back up the next day for a guided walk through the site itself.

Good for anyone who wants the Inca Trail experience and the Sun Gate arrival without the multi-day trek, in a small group with a guide.

What you'll do

  • Hike a section of the original Inca Trail
  • Pass the Winawayna ruins en route
  • Arrive at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate (Intipunku)
  • Overnight in a hotel in Machu Picchu town
  • Guided tour of Machu Picchu the following day
Good to know
  • A shorter, less strenuous alternative to the full 4-day Inca Trail
  • Small group setup rather than a large coach tour
  • Suited to travellers short on time who still want to walk in on foot
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want expert guides, outstanding food, and smooth logistics. Think twice if you expect a proper trek—this is more a guided tour with hiking.

  • Guides like David V., Lucio, and Richard are genuinely exceptional: knowledgeable, attentive, pacing hikes thoughtfully, taking photos for guests.
  • Meals prepared on-site are unexpectedly excellent and a genuine highlight; clean hotel in Aguas Calientes with hot shower included.
  • This is a guided cultural tour, not a proper trek—you'll see Machu Picchu but won't camp on the actual Inca Trail.
  • First day feels slightly rushed; winter months limit daylight, so expect less exploration time at early sites.
