Annapurna Base Camp Trek

This 11-day trek takes you into the heart of the Annapurna range, ending at the base of Annapurna I, the world's 10th highest peak at 8,091 metres. It's a shorter alternative to the 14-day Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, built for people who want the full mountain experience without the extra time.

You start in Pokhara, the lakeside town with views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare and the Annapurna range, then head up through terraced farmland, rhododendron forest and small mountain villages. Waterfalls and river valleys break up the climbing as the peaks close in around you.

This is proper trekking territory — you're walking daily among some of the highest mountains on earth, with the Annapurna massif's cluster of 7,000m and 6,000m giants visible for much of the route.

What you'll do

• Trek to Annapurna Base Camp beneath Annapurna I
• Start and finish in Pokhara, the Lake City, with views of Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhare
