About this trip
This 14-day trek combines the classic Everest Base Camp route with the quieter Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass, making for a longer, more varied crossing of the Khumbu region than the standard Base Camp trek alone.
You'll walk through Sherpa villages, rhododendron forests and high alpine terrain, with acclimatisation days built in as you climb toward altitudes over 5,000 metres. The Cho La Pass crossing is a serious high-altitude day, so this is a trek for people who want a proper physical challenge rather than a gentle walk.
Fully guided throughout, the trip is built around steady altitude gain, so days are as much about pacing yourself as covering ground.
What you'll do
- Trek through Namche Bazaar and the Sherpa village of Thame
- Reach Everest Base Camp itself
- Cross the Cho La Pass at high altitude
- Visit the Gokyo Lakes and climb to Gokyo Ri for Everest and Lhotse views
- Walk through Sherpa villages and rhododendron forest en route
- Rated moderate but includes a high-altitude pass crossing (Cho La) and nights above 5,000m — solid trekking fitness needed
- Altitude acclimatisation shapes the pace, with rest days built into the itinerary
- Suits trekkers who want the Everest Base Camp route plus the extra Gokyo/Cho La section, not a shorter or easier alternative
