Langtang Valley Trek with T-Sergo Ri Peak (5033 m) Climbing

Start & end in Kathmandu 11 days Up to 35

About this trip

This trek takes you into the Langtang Valley north of Kathmandu, with a summit push up Tsergo Ri (5033 m) built into the itinerary. It starts with a few days in Kathmandu for sightseeing and trek preparation, then a long drive out to the hills before the walking begins.

From Syabrubeshi you follow the valley up through Lama Hotel, Langtang Village and Kyanjin Gompa, with the pace adjusted along the way depending on how the group is moving. Acclimatization hikes to Langsisha Kharka and Kyanjin Ri prepare you for the peak attempt before you retrace your steps back to Kathmandu.

It's a proper mountain trek rather than a casual walk, with a genuine climb at altitude as the centrepiece. Those wanting more time in the hills can extend into the Gosainkunda Helambu route back to Kathmandu.

What you'll do

  • Drive through the Nepali countryside from Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi
  • Trek through Lama Hotel and Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa
  • Acclimatization hikes to Langsisha Kharka and Kyanjin Ri
  • Attempt the summit of Tsergo Ri at 5033 m
  • Optional hot spring visit in Syabrubeshi
  • Option to extend onto the Gosainkunda Helambu trek back to Kathmandu
Good to know
  • Moderate-to-demanding pace with a real high-altitude summit attempt, not just valley walking
  • Route and daily distances are adjusted along the way depending on the group's progress
  • Involves a long 6-hour drive each way between Kathmandu and Syabrubeshi
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want accessible high-altitude trekking with strong guides and cultural immersion. Think twice if you dislike bumpy vehicle rides or unpredictable monsoon weather.

  • Guide Raj and porter Milan made the trek comfortable; they handled illness at altitude with patience and humour.
  • July trek delivers lush scenery: roaring white-water river, waterfalls, green meadows, and views throughout the valley walk.
  • Road to Syabrubeshi is genuinely bumpy; expect a thrashing countryside ride before the actual trekking starts.
  • Occasional rain during monsoon season; pack waterproofs and manage expectations for afternoon downpours.
