Gokyo Valley Trek

This trek takes you into the Gokyo Valley in the SoluKhumbu District, a quieter alternative to the main Everest Base Camp trail with views over several 8,000m peaks including Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu.

You walk through Sherpa villages steeped in Tibetan Buddhist tradition, passing monasteries, chortens and mani walls along the way, before climbing to the turquoise Gokyo Lakes and the Ngozumpa Glacier.

The trip starts and ends in Kathmandu, with a short flight to Lukla bookending the walking. Permits, meals and accommodation on the trek are handled for you throughout.

What you'll do

• Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla to start the trek
• Walk through Namche Bazaar with views over the valley to snow-capped peaks
• Follow the Dudh Koshi River to the Gokyo Lakes, among the highest lakes in the world
• See the Ngozumpa Glacier, the longest in the Himalayas
• Climb Gokyo Ri for views over Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu
• Pass Sherpa villages, yak herds, monasteries and mani walls along the trail
