Toubkal Explorer: 3-Day Guided Trek through the Atlas Mountains

This three-day trek takes you up Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak at 4,167m, by a quieter route than the standard path. From Marrakech you head into the Atlas foothills via Imlil, then follow trails through juniper forest and Berber villages rather than the busier main approach.

The route builds height gradually, crossing two passes before reaching Toubkal Refuge as your base for the summit push. It's a good option if you're short on time but still want proper acclimatisation before the final climb.

Day three starts in the dark for a pre-dawn ascent, timed to reach the summit around sunrise for views stretching over the Atlas range and, on a clear day, towards the Sahara. From there it's a long descent back to Imlil and a transfer to Marrakech.

• Trek through juniper forest and Berber villages from Imlil
• Cross the Tizi Mzik Pass (2,480m) into the Azzaden Valley
• Overnight at the Tamsoult Refuge
• Climb over the Aguelzim Pass (3,560m) with panoramic High Atlas views
• Base camp at Toubkal Refuge (3,200m)
• Pre-dawn summit ascent of Mount Toubkal for sunrise views
