About this trip
This three-day trip takes you out of Hanoi and into the hills around Sapa, on foot rather than by tour bus. You trek through a string of ethnic minority villages, spending a night in a homestay along the way.
It is a straightforward, no-frills way to see the terraced valleys and meet local communities without arranging the logistics yourself. Transport, meals, accommodation and a guide are all included.
What you'll do
- Trek through Cat Cat village and its surrounding rice terraces
- Walk between Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Ta Van villages
- Pass through Giang Ta Chai and Supan villages
- Overnight in a homestay with a local family
- Travel to and from Hanoi by limousine bus
- Accommodation switches between a hotel and a homestay, so expect a mix of comfort levels
- Described as partially guided, so some sections may be walked without the guide leading directly
- Involves consecutive days of walking, so a basic level of fitness helps
