About this trip
Seven days in Rwanda built around wildlife, with the flexibility of a private trip rather than a fixed group schedule. You cover Akagera National Park for the Big Five and big cats, then head into the Volcanoes National Park for golden monkey tracking, with time in Kigali to take in its history and culture.
Game drives in Akagera aren't capped, so you can spend as long as you like out looking for lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard, and there's a boat trip on Lake Ihema thrown in for a different angle on the park's wildlife. Lake Kivu brings a calmer note with a canoe outing on the water.
In Kigali you visit the genocide memorial and take a city tour, alongside a local culture experience and a stop at the Ellen DeGeneres Campus. The trip also includes a hike up to Dian Fossey's grave, tying the wildlife focus back to the conservation history of the region.
