About this trip
This is the full Tour du Mont Blanc, walked over 15 days with an International Mountain Leader guiding you through France, Switzerland and Italy. You cross six mountain passes and spend your nights on trek at campsites rather than hotels, which changes the feel of the whole thing.
The itinerary balances 10 full trekking days with three rest days built in along the way, giving you time to explore Alpine towns like Chamonix rather than just passing through.
Expect glacier views, high meadows, camp life with the rest of the group, and clear nights under the stars — the kind of access to the mountains you don't get from a hotel-based trip.
What you'll do
- Complete the full Tour du Mont Blanc route through three countries
- Cross six mountain passes with an International Mountain Leader
- Camp at scenic sites along the trail rather than in hotels
- Take in views of glaciers and Alpine meadows on the walk
- Use rest days to explore Alpine towns including Chamonix
- Serious trekking trip — 10 full days of walking with three rest days spread through the 15 days
- Camping-based, not hotel-based, so nights are spent at trailside campsites
- Fully guided throughout by an International Mountain Leader
Worth it if you're genuinely fit and prepared for grade 5-6 hiking with strong leadership. Think twice if you expect restaurant-quality meals or flexible dinner timing.
- Guide Mel's botanical knowledge, safety confidence, and ability to pace mixed-age groups was genuinely exceptional across multiple reviews.
- Difficulty is understated as grade 4; it's actually grade 5-6 on some days. Serious fitness training in consecutive long walks beforehand is essential.
- Chef Kieran was late for dinner multiple times due to paragliding; breakfasts and lunches were very basic with limited vegetable and fruit options.
- Camping grounds are comfortable and well-organized, but two 'rough camps' are genuinely rough. Pack proper waterproofs and a 3-4 season sleeping bag regardless of season.
