Highlights of Spain & Portugal

Start & end in Madrid 9 days Up to 50

About this trip

This 9-day coach tour covers two countries in one go, starting in Madrid and working through some of Spain and Portugal's best-known cities. You'll take in Toledo, Granada, Seville and Ronda before crossing into Portugal for the Algarve, Lisbon and Porto, then finish back in Spain at Salamanca and Avila.

It's a wide sweep rather than a deep dive — architecture, old towns, local food and a fair bit of history, with flamenco and tapas along the way. Good for a first look at both countries if you'd rather cover ground than settle into one place.

What you'll do

  • Explore Madrid's streets and architecture
  • Wander the old town of Toledo
  • See Granada and Seville
  • Visit Ronda's Puente Nuevo bridge
  • Take in the Algarve coast and Lisbon in Portugal
  • Explore Porto and finish in Salamanca and Avila
Good to know
  • Coach-based tour with a new city every day or two — expect a fast pace
  • Suits travellers who want a broad overview of Spain and Portugal rather than time to settle in
  • Family-friendly group format
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want knowledgeable guides and good pacing through Spain and Portugal. Think twice if you need decent hotels, quality included meals, or a smaller group.

  • Tour guides Gustavo and Ricardo were exceptionally knowledgeable, approachable, and found best vantage points consistently.
  • Hotel quality deteriorates noticeably as the trip progresses; rooms become small, dated, and lack basic facilities like kettles.
  • Included meals are disappointing; restaurant choices and food quality felt poor value, especially for tasting local Spanish cuisine.
  • Large group sizes reported (49 people on bus), and dragging your own bags in and out of hotels throughout.
