Walks & Coastal Towns of Croatia

Zagreb → Split 8 days Up to 16

About this trip

An 8-day walking trip through Croatia's national parks, taking in mountain trails, deep gorges and lake country before finishing on the coast.

You'll cover proper ground on foot — the peaks of Dalmatia, the gorges of Paklenica and the lakes and waterfalls of Plitvice — with time in Zagreb and Split to explore beyond the trails.

It's a fully guided group trip built around walking each day, with the cities used as a base to rest and take in some history between routes.

What you'll do

  • Walk the UNESCO-listed Plitvice National Park past its aquamarine lakes and waterfalls
  • Hike coastal and mountain trails through Paklenica National Park along the Adriatic
  • Explore Zagreb, known for its museums
  • Wander the cobbled old town of Split past its ancient sites
  • Trek through the jagged peaks of the Dalmatian mountains
Good to know
  • A walking-focused trip — expect daily hikes rather than beach time
  • Suits travellers who want national parks and old towns in one trip, not just coastline
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want stunning national parks and knowledgeable guides in smaller Croatian towns. Think twice if you expect varied, consistently engaging walks throughout.

  • Plitvice Lakes consistently described as glorious with full waterfalls, clear cascading lakes, and excellent limestone walks.
  • Local guides (Ivo, Damir, Damier) were exceptionally knowledgeable, infectious in their passion, and made transfers genuinely fun.
  • Coastal walk rated as boring; not all walks equally engaging despite strong park and mountain sections.
  • Smaller, quirky hotel accommodations with included breakfasts; good group dynamics but weather-dependent (heavy rains week before improved conditions).
