Galápagos — North & Central Islands aboard the Eden

Start & end in Quito 7 days Up to 16

About this trip

This is a seven-day sailing trip through the Galápagos' north and central islands, aboard the small ship Eden, built around getting close to wildlife you won't find anywhere else.

Days are spent moving between islands by boat, with guided landings and snorkelling stops to see the marine and bird life the region is known for.

You'll have your own private room aboard, and a naturalist guide leads the wildlife viewing throughout.

What you'll do

  • Spot red-footed boobies at El Barranco, one of only two sites where they're seen
  • Snorkel around underwater craters among the Galápagos' marine life
  • Visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to see giant Galápagos tortoises
  • Sail between the north and central islands aboard the Eden
Good to know
  • A boat-based trip — you're based aboard the Eden and move between islands most days
  • Moderate pace with guided wildlife excursions rather than free time to explore alone
  • Available over Christmas and New Year for those wanting to travel over the holidays
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're flexible with logistics and prioritise wildlife/guides over creature comforts. Think twice if you need guaranteed itinerary adherence or air-con reliability.

  • Guides and crew consistently excellent, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaged during activities like snorkelling trips.
  • Advertised as 7 days but often delivers 3.5 actual touring days due to flight delays with no compensation offered.
  • Dining, bar, and briefing areas lack air-con; sweating through meals and activities. Lava walks poorly briefed; safety concerns on uneven terrain.
  • Four nights on boat feels rushed given island diversity; boat infrastructure aging though crew friendliness compensates somewhat.
