About this trip
This is a 64-day overland crossing from Cape Town to Nairobi, taking in Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. You travel in a purpose-built overland vehicle with a small group, camping most nights and pitching in with the day-to-day work of getting from one place to the next.
The route covers huge ground: desert dunes, the Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls, the Serengeti and Maasai Mara, Uganda's forests, and a stretch of Tanzanian coast to unwind on. It's a serious, immersive way to see the continent rather than a series of comfortable stopovers.
Expect early starts, long drive days, and a genuine participatory camping style — this suits people who want the wildlife and landscapes more than they want an easy ride.

- Participatory overland camping — you help set up tents, do camp chores, and sometimes go without facilities
- Gorilla trekking involves up to four hours of steep, muddy walking, so you need a reasonable level of fitness
