About this trip
Eight days in the saddle from Prague to Vienna, riding through Central European countryside with the Danube as a near-constant companion. Expect medieval villages on hillsides, long stretches of river path, and a route built for covering ground rather than racing it.
A leader rides with the group throughout, with a support vehicle following where it can and a nominated back marker stepping in on cyclist-only paths. Regional food and wine feature along the way, and the pace leaves room to actually take in what's around you.
What you'll do
- Cycle from Prague to Vienna through the Central European countryside
- Follow dedicated bike paths and quiet roads alongside the Danube River
- Pass medieval villages set on the hillsides
- Sample regional food and wine along the route
- Ride with a guide plus a support vehicle for backup
- You need to be a confident, competent cyclist — this isn't a trip to learn on
- Mostly sealed roads and dedicated bike paths, with some gravel, so no technical skills required
- Bring a backpack rather than a wheelie case — cobbles and potholes make cases impractical
