About this trip
Eight days based in Chamonix, with a different hike into the Mont Blanc massif each day. You return to the same bed each night, so there's no packing up and moving on — just the walking changes.
Cable cars are used on four of the walking days, cutting out the toughest climbs so you spend your energy on the views rather than the ascent. An International Mountain Leader guides the group throughout.
This is a serious hiking trip at altitude, built for people who want proper mountain days without the logistics of a moving itinerary.
What you'll do
- Day hikes through the Mont Blanc massif from a fixed Chamonix base
- Cable car rides on four days for high alpine views without the long climb
- Guided throughout by a qualified International Mountain Leader
- Return each evening to the same accommodation in Chamonix
- Most walking days involve up to 5 hours on foot, so you need to be in good physical shape
- This trip spends time at altitude — check the medical and health information before booking
- You carry your own bag; keep it under 15kg as you'll walk with it for up to 30 minutes at a time

What's included
- Guide: All Intrepid group trips in Europe are accompanied by one of our local European group leaders. ’Local’ in this context means a leader who is European or lives in Europe. On this tour, your leader is also your Mountain Guide, awarded with International Mountain Leader (IML) batch. Highly skilled in navigating, crossing various terrain, safeguarding the party in harsh weather conditions, your IML : guide is also an expert in first-aid, trekking equipment and has a great knowledge of local microclimate, flora and fauna. The aim of the group leader, apart from being your mountain guide, is to also take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. Your leader takes care of logistics, will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, recommend great local eating venues and introduce you to our local friends.
