About this trip
Nineteen days moving through Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, covering a lot of ground from northern history to southern beaches. Expect a steady run of cities, temples and coastline rather than long stretches in one place.
You'll take in Hanoi's old streets, an overnight cruise on Halong Bay, the lantern-lit lanes of Hoi An, and the former imperial capital of Hue, before heading south to the Cu Chi Tunnels. The route then crosses into Cambodia for the temples of Angkor and finishes with island time in Thailand.
It's a broad sweep aimed at seeing the highlights of all three countries rather than settling into any one of them, with guided sightseeing built into most days.
What you'll do
- Full-day city tour of Hanoi's history and cuisine
- Overnight cruise on Halong Bay
- Boat trip on the Thu Bon River in Hoi An
- Ancient Hindu temples at My Son
- Hue's Citadel, Forbidden Purple City and Tomb of Khai Dinh
- Angkor Wat and the wider Angkor temple complex
- Covers three countries in 19 days, so it's a fast-moving, sightseeing-heavy itinerary with frequent changes of base
- Fully guided throughout, which suits travellers who prefer a set schedule over independent exploring
- Includes a mix of history, temples and beach time, so expect variety rather than a single focus
Worth it if you value seamless organisation, knowledgeable guides, and well-paced sightseeing across three countries. Think twice if you want more challenging or off-the-beaten-path experiences.
- Hotels consistently centrally located, clean and comfortable; guides knowledgeable and friendly across all cities.
- Itinerary well-paced with ample free time to explore independently, not rushed; Halong Bay cruise and Angkor temples genuinely standout.
- One review vague about 'disappointing experiences' without detail; unclear what fell short for some travellers.
- Killing Fields and elephant sanctuaries mentioned as potential additions; currently not standard inclusions in this itinerary.
