Vietnam & Cambodia at a Glance

Hanoi → Siem Reap 11 days Up to 12

About this trip

This 11-day route runs from northern Vietnam down to the Mekong Delta before crossing into Cambodia, taking in two countries' worth of history, temples and landscape in one go.

You start in Hanoi's Old Quarter and the hills around Mai Chau, then head out onto Halong Bay for an overnight cruise among the limestone karsts. From there it's south to Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta, before finishing among the temples of Angkor.

It's a lot of ground to cover, so expect a trip built around seeing the major sights of both countries rather than lingering in any one place.

What you'll do

  • Walk the Old Quarter and visit Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum in Hanoi
  • Stay in a stilt house in Ba Khan Village, Mai Chau Valley
  • Overnight cruise on Halong Bay with kayaking and cave exploring
  • Descend into the Cu Chi Tunnels and cruise the Mekong Delta by boat
  • Explore Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm
  • Khmer dinner and cultural show in Siem Reap
Good to know
  • Covers two countries in 11 days, so you change location frequently
  • Mixes city sightseeing, rural homestay and temple visits — good if you want variety over depth
