About this trip
This self-guided route runs through four Central American countries in 14 days, mixing colonial towns, volcanoes and beach stops as you move overland from Guatemala down to Costa Rica.
You start in Antigua before heading to Lake Atitlan, then hike Pacaya volcano. From there the route crosses into El Salvador for the surf at Tunco beach, on to Nicaragua for volcano boarding near Leon and the colonial streets of Granada, before finishing over the border in Costa Rica at San Juan del Sur.
It's a hop on/hop off style trip, so you're travelling independently between stops rather than with a guide leading each day, though you're moving through as part of a small group.
