About this trip

Three days through the far north of Vietnam, from the limestone karsts and still water of Ba Be National Park to the wide, wild landscapes of Cao Bang near the Chinese border.

This is remote territory, and the trip is built around slowing down and meeting the people who live there, with nights spent staying with local families rather than in hotels.

It ends at Ban Gioc, one of the region's most striking waterfalls, after a route that takes in lakes, karst scenery and rural life along the way.

What you'll do

  • Explore the lakes and karst scenery of Ba Be National Park
  • Travel through remote landscapes near the Chinese border in Cao Bang
  • Visit Ban Gioc waterfall
  • Stay overnight with local families to learn about rural customs
Good to know
  • Involves homestays rather than hotels, so suits travellers happy with simple, shared accommodation
  • Covers remote, rural areas, so travel between sights takes time
  • Runs as a private, fully guided trip, so pace can be adjusted to your group
