About this trip

Twelve days across Newfoundland, starting in Corner Brook and working your way around the island by road and water. It's a trip built around landscape and wildlife rather than nightlife — fjords, coastline, seabirds and whales, with history woven in at each stop.

Three separate boat tours give you a proper look at the marine life, including a dedicated whale-watching and puffin trip to Witless Bay Ecological Reserve. On land you'll take in Gros Morne's fjords and cliffs, the Viking site at L'Anse aux Meadows, and the UNESCO whaling station at Red Bay.

You finish with two nights in St John's, giving you time to settle into North America's oldest city rather than just pass through.

You arrive in Corner Brook and check into your accommodation for your first night in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Meet your tour guide and group, then head through Gros Morne National Park towards Port au Choix, a fishing community on the northwest coast with 5,500 years of human habitation.
Ferry from St. Barbe across the Strait of Belle Isle to Labrador, then visit Red Bay National Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and 16th-century Basque whaling station.
Return to Newfoundland and explore L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Vikings were active over a thousand years ago, before heading to St. Anthony.
Join an included whale-watching boat tour in St. Anthony to spot minke whales, humpbacks and white-sided dolphins, then drive back through Gros Morne National Park to Cow Head for a two-night stay.
Explore UNESCO-listed Gros Morne with a scenic boat tour on Bonne Bay, watching for bald eagles, and visit the Tablelands, a distinctive flat-topped mountain. Alternative option: Western Brook Pond boat tour and Broom Point Fishing Premises instead.
Leave Gros Morne and travel through Central Newfoundland to Gander, a town that inspired the Broadway musical Come From Away. Visit the North Atlantic Aviation Museum and learn about the 38 planes that landed here on September 11, 2001.
Drive along Notre Dame Bay's rugged coast to Twillingate, where you explore the Long Point Lighthouse and Prime Berth Fishery & Heritage Centre, then continue through Terra Nova National Park to Clarenville.
Day trip to Bonavista, where John Cabot landed in 1497, and the Cape Bonavista Lighthouse Provincial Historic Site, then to Trinity to wander its preserved 18th-century streets before returning to Clarenville.
Travel to St. John's, North America's oldest city, and take an included city tour covering Victorian architecture, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Confederation Building, and Signal Hill's panoramic views.
Boat tour through Witless Bay Ecological Reserve to look for puffins and seabirds, then visit Cape Spear National Historic Site, the most easterly point in North America, before free time in St. John's.
Final breakfast at the hotel and checkout, ending your Newfoundland tour in St. John's.
