About this trip
A six-day loop out of Zurich and back, taking in Switzerland's mix of mountains, lakes and old towns without ever settling in one place for long.
You'll walk Bern's medieval streets, ride the Glacier 3000 cable car, tour Lake Geneva's highlights and cross into Italian-speaking Lugano, with cheese and chocolate tasting in Gruyères along the way.
It's a broad introduction to the country's different regions and languages rather than a deep dive into any one spot, suited to those who'd rather cover ground than linger.
What you'll do
- Wander Bern's medieval old town and Rose Garden viewpoint
- Ride the Glacier 3000 cable car, with the option to cross the bridge linking two peaks
- Visit Chillon Castle and Geneva's Jet d'Eau on a Lake Geneva tour
- Taste cheese and chocolate in Gruyères
- Cruise Lake Lugano and see Bellinzona's UNESCO-listed castles
- Finish with a walk through Lucerne's old town
- Fast-paced — you change location most days, crossing between French, German and Italian-speaking regions
- Partially guided, so some sightseeing is done independently
- Includes mountain passes and cable cars, so isn't ideal if you're uneasy with heights
