About this trip
This 12-day tour takes you through Nepal and Bhutan, two neighbouring countries with very different characters but a shared sense of place. You'll spend the first stretch in Nepal, moving between Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan, before flying into Bhutan for a slower, more contained look at Thimphu, Punakha and Paro.
In Nepal expect UNESCO-listed temples and squares, mountain views from Pokhara, and a change of pace in Chitwan. The flight over to Paro is dramatic in its own right, and Bhutan's side of the trip centres on monasteries, valleys and the capital's low-key streets.
The trip builds to the hike up to Taktsang Monastery, the Tiger's Nest, perched on a cliffside above Paro. Throughout, there's room to talk with locals and get a feel for daily life in both countries rather than just ticking off sights.
