About this trip
Ten days that move from Bangkok's temples and canals to the limestone jungle of Khao Sok and finally the beaches of Phuket. Rather than ticking off temples on foot, you start with a boat ride along the Chao Phraya River to see them from the water, then head north to Ayutthaya, Thailand's former capital, to walk among its ruined pagodas, palaces and Buddha images.
From there the pace shifts. A drive inland brings you to Khao Sok, where ancient rainforest, limestone cliffs and the island-dotted Chiew Lan Lake set the scene for trekking, kayaking and cave exploration rather than sightseeing.
The trip closes in Phuket, with a few unhurried days on white-sand beaches to unwind before heading home.
What you'll do
- Boat ride along the Chao Phraya River past Bangkok's temples
- Explore the ruined temples, pagodas and palaces of Ayutthaya
- Visit a floating market back in Bangkok
- Trek, kayak and explore caves around Chiew Lan Lake in Khao Sok
- Relax on the beaches of Phuket to close the trip
- Pace varies — cultural sightseeing and river travel early on, then active jungle days, then beach downtime
- Suits travellers who want a mix of culture, adventure and relaxation rather than one focus
- Partially guided, so some days allow for independent exploring
Worth it if you value seamless organisation, standout guides like Giftsy, and Khao Sok's natural appeal. Think twice if hotel consistency matters or you need flexibility with pick-up timings.
- Giftsy's Bangkok tours were personal, deeply knowledgeable, and she genuinely encouraged trying local food and culture.
- Khao Sok and Rock & Tree House resort repeatedly praised; activities booked for you that you wouldn't have found alone.
- Phuket hotels patchy: Secret Cliff and Kata Breeze both had serious issues—mould, poor English-speaking staff, unclean facilities.
- Airport pick-ups arrive very early due to rain season precautions; Bangkok's Tail boat ride and some tourist spots feel overcrowded and time-wasting.
