About this trip
Ten days across Thailand that move from ancient capitals to hill country and finish on the beach. You start north of Bangkok in Ayutthaya, the former capital, before heading to the quieter city of Phitsanuloke and then up into the hills around Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai.
The first half is about temples and history — weathered ruins, giant Buddha statues, and sites that have kept their original structures rather than being rebuilt. The middle stretch trades cities for hill tribe villages and jungle scenery.
It ends in Phuket, where the pace drops and the focus shifts to beach time and seafood after a fairly busy first week.
