About this trip
This is a four-country sweep through Indochina, starting and ending in Thailand with stops in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos in between. It's a lot of ground covered in 16 days, so expect a good mix of temples, waterways and history rather than long stretches in any one place.
You'll start in Bangkok taking in its temples and floating markets, then head to Siem Reap for Angkor Wat and a taste of local life by tuk-tuk. From there it's on to Vietnam for the Mekong Delta, the Cu Chi Tunnels, Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh, before finishing in Laos with Luang Prabang, the Pak Ou caves and Kuang Si Waterfall.
It's billed as a relaxing trip despite the distance covered, and works well for families or groups wanting a broad first look at the region rather than a deep dive into one country.
What you'll do
- Explore Bangkok's temples and floating markets
- Visit Angkor Wat and ride a tuk-tuk around Siem Reap
- Cruise the Mekong Delta and descend into the Cu Chi Tunnels
- Cruise Ha Long Bay and see the limestone scenery of Ninh Binh
- Explore Luang Prabang, the Pak Ou caves and Kuang Si Waterfall
- Covers four countries in 16 days, so travel days between countries are part of the deal
- Partially guided, with some free time built in for local exploring
Worth it if you get a strong guide and accept variable quality across four countries. Think twice if language barriers or poor guide assignment would ruin your trip.
- Standout guides like Luna and Duong transformed experiences by adjusting itineraries and genuine attention to detail.
- Guide quality is wildly inconsistent—some guides barely understood English, ruining activities like the Phuket boat day entirely.
- Afternoons before flights have zero scheduled activities; you'll kill hours in hotel lobbies despite paying premium prices.
- Vietnam hotels ranged run-down to excellent; Phuket 5-star upgrade disappointed. Cambodia vehicles were only satisfactory.
