About this trip
This is a small-group cruise around the Maldives' local islands, built around whale shark conservation rather than resort lounging. You sail aboard the MV Felicity gullet, snorkelling with whale sharks alongside a coordinator from the Maldivian Whale Shark Research Program, and taking part in real data collection.
Days are split between marine work and island life: visiting a coral nursery with local NGO Save the Beach, learning about seagrass and turtle conservation, walking through tropical forest, and doing beach cleans on deserted sandbanks. Your tour leader also brings in local culture, from village visits to a Bodu Beru drumming and dance night.
