About this trip
This trip takes you into the Knuckles Mountains near Kandy, walking to a remote village that has largely escaped mass tourism, guided by both an experienced guide and a local villager.
The route runs through pine forest, tea estates, jungle patches and terraced rice fields, crossing streams and passing waterfalls along the way. You will see spice, paddy and tea plantations still worked by hand, and get the chance to talk with locals and eat home-cooked food in the village.
Based in Sri Lanka's hill country, the trip uses this as a springboard for a range of hikes and treks through jungle and across tea estates, with waterfalls and rivers offering a cool dip when the walking gets hot.
