About this trip

Four days, three cities, a lot of history — this is the Golden Triangle done at pace, built for anyone short on time who still wants to see India's most famous sights.

You move from Mughal grandeur in Agra to Rajput forts in Jaipur and Delhi's mix of ancient and British-era landmarks, with a guide filling in the history at each stop.

It's a guided, ground-covering introduction rather than a slow explore — useful if this is your first taste of India and you want the headline monuments ticked off in one go.

What you'll do

  • See the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort
  • Explore Amber Fort and City Palace in Jaipur
  • Guided city tour of Delhi taking in India Gate, Red Fort and Qutub Minar
  • Visit Fatehpur Sikri and the Tomb of Itimad-Ud-Daulah
  • Catch an evening Dance of India show
  • Browse the local bazaars in Jaipur
Good to know
  • Fast-paced — three cities covered in four days with a packed guided itinerary each day
  • Fully guided throughout, so little scope for independent exploring
  • Suits travellers who want the major sights in a short window rather than a slower, in-depth trip

Route map for India in 04 Days - Delhi Agra Jaipur -Golden Triangle Tour
  1. Delhi — New Delhi

Pick-up from your hotel or New Delhi airport. Delhi's been destroyed and rebuilt seven times over, layering history into its streets. Visit Raj Ghat on the Yamuna's banks, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated after his assassination in January 1948.

  2. Delhi to Agra — Agra

Drive to Agra early morning after breakfast and check in. This medieval Yamuna-side city was founded by Sultan Sikandar Lodi in 1506 and became the Mughal capital from 1526 to 1658. The Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri are all UNESCO World Heritage Sites here.

  3. Agra to Jaipur — Agra

Drive to Jaipur after breakfast. Founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, it was India's first planned city and got painted pink in 1882 to honour Prince Albert's visit. Afternoon visits include the City Palace, Jantar Mantar observatory, and Hawa Mahal's 1043 windows.

  4. Excursion to Amber Fort, 11km north in the Aravalli hills, the ancient Kachhawaha Rajput capital until 1637. See its gateways, courts, pavilions and palaces before driving back to Delhi for airport or hotel transfer.
