Kimberley Trail

Fourteen days through the Kimberley, one of Australia's most remote regions, camping out under the stars and covering serious ground between ancient gorges, waterholes and thermal springs.

The trip mixes hiking through varied, often rocky terrain with long stretches of driving across sparse outback landscape, plus a helicopter flight over Mitchell Plateau for a different perspective. Traditional Custodians share First Nations history and knowledge of the area along the way.

This is a basics camping trip — tents, mattress, linen and pillow are provided, you bring your own sleeping bag. It suits travellers who want an authentic, unpolished outback experience rather than comfort.

What you'll do

• Walk through the boulders and chasms of the Bungle Bungles in Purnululu National Park
• Swim in the infinity pool at Lake Argyle
• Soak in the natural thermal pools of El Questro Wilderness Park
• Take a helicopter flight over Mitchell Plateau
• Hike to gorges and tiered waterfalls and look for freshwater crocodiles at Windjana Gorge
• Learn about First Nations history and culture from Traditional Custodians
