Camping the Best of the West's National Parks

Las Vegas → San Francisco 16 days Up to 12

About this trip

Sixteen days working through a run of the west coast's national parks, camping along the way and hiking most days. This is for people who want to cover ground and earn the views rather than drive between viewpoints.

Expect proper climbs, including the steep pull out of the valley on the Mist Trail and a wade through the water and canyon walls of The Narrows in Zion. Between the big hikes there's downtime built in — stargazing under Capitol Reef's dark skies, s'mores round the fire at Bryce Canyon.

It's a group trip, fully guided, with a moderate but genuine hiking demand throughout.

What you'll do

  • Climb the Mist Trail out of Yosemite Valley
  • Wade through The Narrows in Zion National Park
  • Stargaze in Capitol Reef's dark sky park
  • Evening s'mores at Bryce Canyon National Park
  • Camp for most of the 16 days as you move between parks
Good to know
  • Moderate difficulty but includes some genuinely challenging, steep hikes
  • Camping-based trip rather than hotels, so pack for outdoor nights
  • Fast-moving itinerary aimed at covering several major parks in one trip
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're fit enough for serious hiking and value intimate group vibes. Think twice if you need comfort or predictable downtime.

  • Small 12-person groups genuinely attract like-minded travellers; social chemistry felt real across trips.
  • Itinerary packs exceptional park coverage with hikes to genuinely breathtaking vistas; rarely found this density elsewhere.
  • Expect sore feet and tired legs; this is active hiking-heavy, not leisurely sightseeing from a coach.
  • Price-to-quality ratio praised, but no reviews mention exact costs, logistics, or what's included versus extra.
