About this trip
Eighteen days across four Central Asian countries, tracing the old Silk Road from the steppes of Kazakhstan through Kyrgyzstan's mountains to the fabled cities of Uzbekistan and the deserts of Turkmenistan. It's a lot of ground, but a small group (max 16) and a guide throughout keep the border crossings and logistics manageable.
This is heritage travel at its core — bazaars, mosques, mausoleums, and cities that were major stops on the trade routes centuries ago. Expect comfortable 4-star hotels and private rooms rather than roughing it, with the pace built around seeing rather than sitting still.
The route also has real landscape variety, from Issyk-Kul's alpine lake to the burning Darvaza Gas Crater, so it's not all city sightseeing.
