About this trip
Five days covering two of Hunan's best-known sights: the towering sandstone peaks of Zhangjiajie and the old river town of Fenghuang. You travel between the two by bullet train, with a small group of no more than 16.
The Zhangjiajie side is all dramatic scenery — peak forests, gorges, lakes and forest trails that helped inspire famous fictional landscapes. In Fenghuang the pace slows down as you wander old streets, timber architecture and riverside lanes that still carry a strong sense of local folk culture.
A guide is with you throughout, and accommodation, meals, admission fees and transport are all built into the package, so the days run smoothly without much to organise yourself.
