Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu

Start & end in Cusco 4 days Up to 10

About this trip

Four days on foot along the Inca Trail, ending at Machu Picchu. You move through a real shift in landscape, from high desert down into Andean cloud forest, with the terrain changing as much as the views.

Along the way you pass archaeological sites still half-swallowed by jungle, which gives the walk a proper sense of discovery rather than a straight there-camps for three nights, walking each day with your group and guide before the final approach to the lost city of the Incas.

What you'll do

  • Trek the classic Inca Trail over four days
  • Cross high desert into Andean tropical rainforest
  • Pass Inca ruins partly covered by jungle overgrowth
  • Arrive on foot at Machu Picchu
  • Camp out each night with your group
Good to know
  • Camping trek — you'll be sleeping in tents for three nights
  • Fully guided in a small group, good for families as well as solo travellers
  • Multi-day trekking with changing terrain, so a reasonable level of fitness helps
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want a well-organised trek with genuinely knowledgeable guides and impressive logistical detail. Think twice if campsite facilities matter—toilets need work.

  • Guides consistently praised for deep historical knowledge, patience, and genuine engagement with trekkers over 10+ years experience.
  • Small groups of 4–5 people mean real attention and better views; porters described as 'superheroes' who handle heavy loads with genuine smiles.
  • Camping gear included in price—good tents, air mattresses, sleeping bags—unlike competitors who charge extra for these essentials.
  • Campsite toilets aren't clean enough; day two's 4,215m altitude climb is genuinely demanding and requires real fitness preparation.
