About this trip

This short trip in Jaipur combines hands-on volunteering with a local community centre and a proper look at the city's landmarks. You'll spend time working directly with underprivileged children before switching into more familiar sightseeing mode.

On the volunteering side, you'll help teach basic English and maths, work on alphabets, numbers and writing skills, and run art, craft and henna sessions along with games and sport to get the kids active. It's simple, practical support rather than anything requiring special training.

Once your volunteer sessions wrap up, you'll tour Jaipur's main sights and stay with a local host family, eating home-cooked meals and getting a closer look at everyday Indian life than a hotel stay would give you.

What you'll do

  • Teach basic English, maths and writing skills to children at a community centre
  • Run art, craft and henna painting sessions with the kids
  • Organise games and sport for the children
  • Visit Amber Fort and Jaigarh Fort
  • See Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, Albert Hall Museum, the Monkey Temple and Birla Temple
  • Stay with a local host family and eat home-cooked meals
Good to know
  • Good fit if you're short on time in India but want your visit to include real, hands-on contact with a local community
  • You stay with a host family rather than a hotel, so expect a simpler, more homely setup
  • Easy pace and partially guided — volunteering sessions are structured, sightseeing less so
