Nepal Tibet Bhutan Tour

Kathmandu → Paro 18 days Up to 7

About this trip

This 18-day tour strings together three countries that don't often appear on the same itinerary, moving from Kathmandu's old cities to the high plateau of Tibet and on to the fortress-temples of Bhutan. It's a sightseeing-heavy trip rather than a trekking expedition, though there's a good amount of walking and altitude to contend with along the way.

You start in Kathmandu and Pokhara taking in UNESCO sites, lake views and Himalayan sunrises, then fly to Lhasa for a proper tour of Tibet — Gyantse, Shigatse, Rongbuk and a stop at Everest Base Camp. From there it's back to Kathmandu and on to Paro, finishing with days in Thimphu exploring Bhutan's dzongs, temples and the hike up to Taktsang Monastery.

It's a lot of ground to cover in 18 days, so expect a fair amount of driving and flying between regions alongside the sightseeing.

What you'll do

  • Visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu
  • Watch sunrise and sunset over the Himalayas
  • Explore Pokhara's lakeside and heritage sites
  • Tour Lhasa, Gyantse, Shigatse and Rongbuk in Tibet
  • See Everest Base Camp
  • Hike to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery in Bhutan
Good to know
  • Covers three countries in 18 days, so travel days and border transitions take up a good chunk of the schedule
  • Involves high altitude in both Tibet and Bhutan, worth preparing for
  • Mix of sightseeing and moderate hiking rather than a dedicated trekking trip
