About this trip
Sixteen days that take you through Egypt's ancient sites and finish with beach time on the Red Sea. You start in Cairo among the pyramids and museums, cruise the Nile past the great temples of Luxor and Aswan, head north to Alexandria's coastal history, then wind down in Sharm El Sheikh.
This is a fully guided group trip built around seeing as much as possible — pyramids, tombs, temples and catacombs — with a proper beach stretch at the end to recover from all the walking.
What you'll do
- Stand before the Giza Pyramids and visit Sakkara and Memphis
- Explore Cairo's Egyptian Museum, Citadel, Old Cairo and Khan El Khalili bazaar
- Cruise the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, visiting Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and Deir El Bahary
- See the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo, plus the Unfinished Obelisk, High Dam and Philae
- Wander Alexandria's Qaitbay Citadel, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Pompey's Pillar and the Kom El Shoquafa catacombs
- Unwind on the Red Sea coast in Sharm El Sheikh
- A long, sightseeing-heavy itinerary before the beach section at the end — expect a lot of temples and museums in succession
- Fully guided throughout, so the pace and route are set for you
- Runs over Christmas and New Year, which suits families and groups travelling together over the holidays
Worth it if you want comprehensive ancient Egypt coverage with strong guides and cruise comfort. Think twice if you dislike high-pressure upselling, need transparency upfront, or prefer group dynamics.
- Standout guides like Amir, Mohammed, Dina, and Gabriel deliver genuinely knowledgeable, tailored experiences throughout.
- Luxor-Aswan cruise ships offer excellent buffets and nice cabins; visiting Luxor temple at night is genuinely spectacular.
- Some guides push overpriced optional tours and souvenirs aggressively; one reviewer felt constant pressure to buy.
- Museum entrance fees not listed separately; debit cards only at sites; book during Ramadan means shortened hours and airport delays.
